A friend online asked me if I could do a video demonstrating some of my fingerstyle technique. Turns out there's a lot to cover, so this is the first video. My fingerpicking style owes a lot to clawhammer, but I also use techniques learned from "standard" fingerpicking, flamenco, plectrum (without fingers), and some hybrid pick+fingers styles.
First I cover a basic "banjo" triplet roll using the thumb, index, and middle fingers, first for a basic arpeggiated chord pattern and then for lead lines using a riff from my song "Don Quixote's Deathbed Conversation with Sancho Panza."
I then show four different ways I play rhythm parts:
-Index finger treated as a pick (braced by the thumb) strumming and "picking"
-Claw strumming
-Thumb alone strumming
-Alternating thumb + claw plucking.
