Say hello to our new Martin Custom Shop Sinker Mahogany guitars, exclusive to guitarguitar! They sure are stunning. In this video we have Stuart from our Glasgow store chatting us through the exciting new Custom Shop acoustics, made with antique wood from the bottom of an exotic river bed.
At guitarguitar we always try to work as closely with our brands as possible, and in this case we had the unique opportunity to visit the Martin factory in Nazareth Pennsylvania and spec out our own Custom Shop models.
These Martin Custom Sinker Mahogany guitars have been made with our own hand-selected choice of woods from Martin's Custom Shop selection, ensuring these are of exceptional quality from aesthetics to tone,
Constructed from very unique woods with incredible grain and excellent tonal properties, we wanted to make sure that our Custom orders were going to be exceptional in every way. Sinker wood is taken from logs that have been submerged in swamps or rivers for sometimes up to a century! These logs were from Belize, and have been traced back in documents to at least the 1930s.
These ancient logs drink up all of the river’s nutrients and become very dense. The ensuing sound is especially rich and detailed. Visually, we picked the most visually striking examples of Mahogany to make the bodies of these guitars really stand out. Very cool indeed, if we say so ourselves!
