As you may have heard, Marshall has just been sold to Swedish speaker company Zound, ending over 60 years of family ownership.
To shed light on these developments, Thomas will go through the history of that iconic brand, and demo some of his precious vintage Marshall Amps, including some A/B testing with the BluGuitar AMP1.
As we celebrate Jim Marshall's 100th anniversary this year and 60 years of Marshall in 2022, it's important to reflect on the brand's contributions to rock music. From the classic rock sound to the famous "This one goes to 11" scene in Spinal Tap, Marshall amps have played a significant role in shaping the sound of rock music. However, in today's changing industry, there are questions about the future of the brand. What will happen to Marshall? Will we see mini amps, digital amps, or even Marshall software?
To explore these speculations and more, we invite you to join our discussion on the future of Marshall and the music industry. We'll touch on the changes in ownership and strategy for other guitar brands, such as Fender, Gibson, Orange, Soldano, Egnator, Mesa Boogie, Peavey, and Carvin.
We will also be featuring a fascinating interview with Mr. Geoffrey Whitehorn. In this interview, Geoff will take us back to the good old days when he was a Marshall artist and demonstrator, showcasing the iconic amps at trade shows in Frankfurt, Paris, London where he became friends with Thomas. Both shared many great moments being it at JHS events in Garforth, UK or the Hughes&Kettner years.
On Academy of Tone, we're passionate about celebrating the history and evolution of guitar gear. So, let's raise a glass to the Marshall amps that have rocked our world, including JTM 45, Plexi, Major, JCM800, JCM900, JCM2000, and JVM 410.
