Fender's Alternate Reality range aims to offer something a little different, as the name suggests. Warped reflections of the classics, mind-bending hybrids and plenty of outside-the-box ideas. The Meteora was a recent introduction to Fender's roster, and for 2019, they've armed it with dual Player Series humbuckers for a truly hard-hitting sound.
The Meteora is undoubtedly among Fender's most eye-catching designs. Combining offset curves with retro angles reminiscent of tailfins, there's something otherworldly about it. An Alder body, Maple neck and Pau Ferro fretboard offer a perfectly balanced sound. Expect an even EQ response, resonant midrange and plenty of harmonic content without being overwhelming. The Meteora has a sound that's just waiting to be moulded into your style.
The previous Meteora had two single-coil pickups, similar to a Telecaster. By adding two Player Series hunbuckers to the mix, Fender have give it a well-deserved turbo boost. This, combined with the new fretboard material, second volume control and push-pull coil split takes the Meteora's tonal potential to new heights.
