I recently reviewed the Dream 65 pedal and was so impressed I bought the UA Ruby 63 amp pedal for guitar that claims to be like a VOX 63 tube amplifier because of what I saw in the quality and playing tones of the dream 65. UAFX as the brand is also known, brought these pedals to market in around May/June 2022 and to be honest I was surprised they were 'dabbling' in the effects pedal market. But these amp simulator pedals certainly do 'cut the mustard' and deliver exceptional quality in all respects including the tones available.. just like the original amps. But does this Ruby 63 really sound the same as the VOX 63 amp? And what about the 'feel' when playing through this pedal?
There are many reviews around, but no one (certainly no retailers) ever really shows you exactly in close up what these pedals are like, or shows the internal build quality and more as I do in this series and indeed in all technology and guitar reviews I make.
So, I have created two reviews (one for each pedal I reviewed); this is the second review showing the Ruby 63 that simulates a VOX amp from that era. And splendid it is too.
The earlier review of the UAFX Dream 65 is here: https://youtu.be/E8kgMph5W4o and be sure to check that one out as it goes further regarding the technology inside the unit. Both pedals are (strangely) extremely similar internally so in this video I show only the main components. I also show on both videos some tone examples (just jamming really) so you can decide if these pedals really do sound as good as the tube amps they simulate. Do check out the Dream 65 pedal and see for yourself... but this Ruby 63 pedal is great too!
Find out in this review EXACTLY what I think as someone who BOUGHT THE PEDALS MYSELF. Is this 'amp' guitar pedal really good enough to be called a 63 VOX classic amp? All the answers are here, including the processors and so much more.
I did comment about receiving a second hand unit from Andertons here in the UK so I promptly sent that back for a refund... then I bought this pedal from GAK here: https://www.gak.co.uk/en/universal-audio-ruby-top-boost-63-amp-pedal/955571 and they delivered a perfect one with exceptional service.
I have spent considerable time creating this video and this video is completely unsponsored - this is entirely my own work and is a completely truthful independent review - so check it out and don't just watch the sales videos from others!
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, RING THE BELL, AND THUMBS UP to give my channel a boost and thank you for watching - I hope the video is enjoyable.
