Fender's Danny Guion shows off Fender's latest acoustic models.
Fender started making acoustic guitars in the U.S. in the early 1960s, with laminated construction and bolt-on necks, and has recently shown renewed dedication to its acoustic line. At this year's Winter NAMM show, Fender's Danny Guion walked us through three of the latest additions to the catalog. The Kingman ASCE, a cutaway dreadnought based on what Guion calls "one of the original recipes," features all-solid-wood construction, vintage burst finish, Strat-style neck and headstock, and a Fishman pickup. The Roosevelt resonator offers a hand-spun cone and combines a Fishman undersaddle pickup with a single-coil Telecaster neck pickup. It also has a cutaway design, flamed maple top and mahogany back and sides, and "moonlight" burst finish. Finally, Guion shows us the Squier SA-105, a $99 laminated dread for you to "beat around on."
