In this video we will look at an Epiphone Zephyr tube amp from 1965, made in Kalamazoo by Gibson. This is, I believe the same amp as a Gibson GA-25RVT Hawk. We will check out the features, look at a schematic, talk about some ways to modify the circuit to improve the tone, and finally we'll take a listen with a Fender Tele.
This amp seems to be very rare. It is close in circuit to a Gibson GA-35RVT Lancer, although not exact. We use the schematic from the Lancer to service it. I've only ever seen one other one like it in photos and that example had a 12" speaker. The Zephyr was known to have 12" and 15" speakers, and supposedly disappeared after 1964. Weird to find this model with two 10" speakers and in this kind of condition.
