This is one of those catalog amps from the early 70s. Anyone growing up during this era starting out on guitar had a good chance of starting out on one of these.
The Checkmate 17 model has good cleans and features reverb and tremolo, both of which are footswitchable. Not bad features for an inexpensive starter amp.
The faceplate has the obligatory 70s faux wood cosmetic. Grill cloth and tolex are in overall good shape on this example. And that logo looks super cool! Everything from the black tolex to the shiny, chrome-colored plastic grill trim screams 1970.
Cool amp with surprisingly decent tone!
