If you've been looking for that unmistakable, vintage, British, 18-watt Marshall or a Vox AC-15 tone, but didn't want spend a fortune, here's an alternative... This is a Gregory Mark Sixteen. It's all tube except the rectifier. The output is two 6BQ5A (EL-84), and there are three 12ax7 (ECC83) in the preamp. This example has been fully restored - all the non-electrolytic caps changed, power tubes are closely matched Amperex, it's been biased, the speaker is a replacement vintage 1960s Jensen C12R, it was also cosmetically restored after some neglect by a previous owner, the grill cloth replaced, the handle replaced, 3-prong power cord added. She sounds growly and mean when cranked. Slap a microphone in front of this and one in the room, and you got instant tonal nirvana! She also has reverb and tremolo. The reverb was serviced also. It was not working when I got it. The tremolo in the video makes some weird noise. I think I need to check the oscillator tube, or one of the resistors in the tremolo circuit is out of spec.
