This Is the Ballad of Old Allie Oversee
-Brad Linzy (Adapted from a poem by Edwin Lewis Brashear)
Here is the ballad of old Allie Oversee
He loves his sweet litigation
He'll sue you first and then he'll sue me
Here in this freest nation
Old Allie'll sue you over his land
Any reason of his choosin'
It might be for allowin' your water to flow
On a parcel he ain't even usin'
Well Allie he don't think much of friends
And family keeps its distance
And the only thing Old Allie inspires
Is bitterness and resistence
Old Allie he's a miserly cuss
His money he tightly pinches
He'd sooner tie you up in red tape
than give 8 lousy inches
But deep within Old Allie's black heart
there lives a tinge of sorrow
For he knows his 30 pieces today
Can't buy back your tomorrow
Here is the ballad of old Allie Oversee
He loves his sweet litigation
He'll sue you first and then he'll sue me
Here in this freest nation
