It's been a while since I picked up this guitar. Eric and I call it the "Tuxedo" after its black and white appointments. The neck is one piece of rosewood. Lollar Gold Foil pickups are the feature, however, and I just love how they sound and look. They're kind of a mixture between a sweet PAF and a single coil pickup but they definitely have a unique quality. Coupled with the guitar's woods and solid construction by Eric Smid, we get a good looking and special sounding guitar.
In the video I say that the body is Alder. It is not; it is a single piece of very lightweight Khaya mahogany. Eric and I were discussing this yesterday and sadly we both forgot for a moment what the body was constructed from. It's lightweight Khaya mahogany. That's why the guitar sings like a piano: 1-piece rosewood neck and 1-piece mahogany body.
The amp used in this video is Fractal Audio's version of a mid 60's Twin as found in the latest (Quantum 2.00) Axe FX II software. All other effects - echo, reverb, overdrive, etc - were added by yours truly. Axe-FX owners can download the preset from http://axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=4066 .
