The Tube Driver has been presented in a couple of different forms over the years. Steve at Buffalo FX has adopted what he believes to be the best qualities of its various incarnations and presented them in his own version, the TD-X. I cannot fault the TD-X. It's light, impeccably built and will give you all that you'd expect from the best of the originals. And there's no tube to power (or fail), and no fizziness. It will rock the hell out of the front end of your amp, act as a subtle but effective equaliser, or you can just crank it and use it as a straight-up overdrive. Any which way but loose.
